Serpentine Belts

That big, long belt in the front of your engine is called a serpentine belt. Some of the older belts, made of neoprene, need replacing every 4-5 years. Newer vehicles have serpentine belts made of a superior product (EPDM – ethylene propylene diene monomer) that can last a lot longer. A drive belt tensioner is a pulley mounted to either a spring mechanism or to an adjustable pivot point that is used to keep constant tension on your serpentine belt.
